A Tamil entertainment channel is expected to launch by the end of this year. Venthar Television will use Harris Broadcast Communications to support the the launch the new regional entertainment channel from ingest to playout.
The channel will also incorporate regular news bulletins. Its new facility in Chennai will house two HD production control rooms to manage studio production activity, and a master control room (MCR) to monitor signal quality prior to over-the-air transmission.
Harris will deliver a complete high-definition (HD) integrated file-based broadcast solution to Venthar Television to support the launch of the channel.
 
Venthar Television has selected Harris to provide solutions for the entire broadcast production chain, including video processing, routing, monitoring and distribution in the infrastructure; and servers and automation to enhance workflow efficiencies from control rooms through to playout. Primeasure Technologies Private Limited, a Harris dealer in India, secured the sale.

The broadcast solution at Venthar Television includes Harris Platinum routers with Harris HView SX Pro multiviewers integrated within the frame to maximize space efficiencies, and minimize cabling requirements and power consumption. Harris 6800+ core processing gear provides video processing and distribution needs in a compact and modular solution.

The system will also incorporate Harris Nexio AMP servers for ingest and playout, and Harris Velocity ESX on-SAN editing with FCP Integration Gateway to enable direct editing with Final Cut Pro editors on the storage area network (San). This will quicken throughput speed, allowing users to edit as material is ingested. The entire system will be under the control of Harris ADC automated content management and distribution.
